Short Stories
These are a few examples of short stories I have written in the past not only during my own time but throughout my courses as well. Many of these characters, I have continued to develop going forward focusing on a select few at a time.
"Monster In the Woods"
This is a short story I have slowly been working on and improving over the last five years. The story is currently in its 4th draft and stars characters that I have been developing since about sophomore year of high school. The main characters are a couple of Sasquatches living alone in the north Pacific wilderness where they get an unexpected greeting from a strange creature that seemingly attacks the other beasts that live in the forest for sport. My emphasis when crafting this story was placed upon the relationship between the two main characters.
"Tr-Esh"
This is one of my more recent pieces for a potential backup character for a Pathfinder campaign I am a part of. This is written as a backstory for the character and for now, is deliberately left vague due to the nature of the campaign. The character is a young aberration called a Dalit, a slimy scavenger who resembles a toad in shape. He goes by the name Tr-Esh and while feeding on the corpse of a deceased wizard stumbles upon his spellbook. Fascinated by the concept of magic the young creature goes on a quest to recover spellbook pages and on his journey settles in the nearby city of Thessel. Whilst there becomes friends with a blind beggar named, Hakim who is the only friend the small creature has in the unforgiving wastes and eventually becomes his mentor teaching him about the power of magic.
"The Birth of the Four Universal Forces"
I wrote this as part of a mythology class where I was tasked with creating my very own creation myth. I wanted to create a somewhat comical group of gods with a great deal of personality while following some of the essential tropes of creation myths such as how the world was before creation, a conflict existing between gods, the creation of the first life forms and others. This group of deities are the same four forces that govern the universe in the world of Rift Rave.
